With the continuous improvement of glass production technology, people are not satisfied with traditional square shaped glass and are beginning to pursue various special shaped glass. As a result, there are more and more irregular shaped glass in daily life. Can irregular shaped glass be tempered? Most irregular shaped glass is tempered, and it is easy to produce waste during the tempering process. The difficulty of tempering is also higher than ordinary glass, and special attention needs to be paid. Below, we will introduce the precautions for the tempering of irregular shaped glass.
1. Can irregular glass be tempered
Sure, shaped glass is actually a glass structure with curvature in addition to flat glass. Shaped glass is essentially made of glass material and can still be tempered under the processing of an appropriate tempering furnace. The main purpose of glass tempering is to provide compressive stress on the surface of the glass, improve its strength and load-bearing capacity, and thus better resist wind, pressure, and cold and heat. Shaped glass may have special requirements during the tempering process due to its shape, size, and special structure, such as adjusting heating temperature and time, and requirements for the placement and direction of glass.
Therefore, when tempering irregular glass, it is necessary to choose suitable bending tempering furnace electric furnace equipment, and at the same time, control the size and radius of irregular glass according to the parameters and specifications of the tempering furnace to achieve the desired tempering effect. Below, we will explain the parameter setting and precautions of the glass tempering furnace.
2. Precautions for setting parameters of glass tempering furnace
2.1. Glass with holes and grooves: Glass with holes and grooves needs to extend the heating time of the tempering furnace during tempering, increasing by 2.5% to 5%.
2.2. Sharp angle glass: When the sharp angle is less than 30 °, the heating time for glass tempering is shortened by 2.5%~5% compared to ordinary glass. When loading the glass, attention should be paid to placing the sharp angle of the glass towards the back, and some waste glass should be placed on the same path to absorb heat and prevent the corners from absorbing heat too quickly and causing bending.
2.3. Embossed glass: When heating embossed glass, attention should be paid to the placement of the glass with the non flat surface facing upwards to avoid ripples caused by prolonged heating time. The non flat surface sometimes faces downwards, and the heating time and blowing pressure should be determined based on the thickness of the glass and the thicker position.
2.4. Heat absorbing glass: The heating time of heat absorbing glass should be reduced by 5% compared to ordinary glass
2.5. Coated glass: In order to protect the glass film surface, coated glass, heat reflective glass, etc. should be placed with the coated surface facing upwards. The bottom temperature and heating time should be increased by 2.5% -10% compared to ordinary glass of the same thickness.
2.6. Glazed glass: Glazed glass should be fully dried during tempering, and the upper and lower temperatures of the heating section should be set at around 700 ℃. If the glass bends, the wind pressure should be adjusted appropriately. The heating balance pressure can be reduced by about 50%, and the heating time and glaze color are also related.
The above are common types of irregular glass on the market, which can be adjusted according to the above parameter adjustment methods for reference settings during tempering. However, before mass production, the data parameters of a small amount of glass tested for tempering should be used as the reference. The data parameters should be adjusted according to the actual production situation to ensure the tempering quality of irregular glass.
