During the heating process, glass breaks, which is commonly referred to as blast furnace. In the production of tempered glass, it is a serious accident that not only causes serious equipment damage, but also causes significant losses to the enterprise. Tempering furnace explosion is a production accident that enterprises want to avoid. There are many reasons that can cause glass to explode during the tempering process. So here, we would lik e to introduce to you what to do if a glass tempering furnace explodes? And the reasons for the explosion and corresponding measures.

1. Reasons and countermeasures for furnace explosion

1.1.Original film quality

Due to poor quality of the original film, some small cracks in the glass rapidly expand under the impact of thermal stress, leading to glass fracture. The glass tempering furnace is a rapid heating process, and defects such as cracks, stones, and bubbles in the original glass can easily cause furnace explosion. It is necessary to strictly select the glass original and carefully inspect it before entering the furnace.

1.2.Heating too fast or temperature too high

Excessive heating is associated with temperature and convection settings. When glass enters the furnace, the heating rate is too fast, resulting in high thermal stress on the glass and causing it to burst, resulting in small fragments. The thicker the glass, the larger the layout, and the slower the heating speed should be. The heating speed and convection setting should be adjusted according to the thickness of the glass, and the state of the glass in the furnace should be constantly observed.

1.3.Cold working quality

Cold working refers to drilling, slotting, grinding edges, etc., which cause the tempering furnace to explode due to rough edges and cracks. During the glass tempering process, the edges are subjected to more thermal stress and are prone to cracking. Grinding the edges of the holes or grooves is to eliminate cracks in the holes or grooves. Need to improve the edge grinding process, fine machining, avoid defects, and pay attention to heating regularly. If there are any abnormalities during the furnace opening inspection, they should be promptly eliminated.

1.4.Equipment abnormality

The common causes of furnace explosion due to equipment abnormalities are jamming of the transmission system, silicon rod, abnormal transmission encoder, frequency converter, and abnormal length measurement. The equipment should be regularly inspected and repaired to eliminate faults.

2. What to do if the glass tempering furnace explodes

2.1. Both thick and thin plates should immediately stop the main drive and turn off heating to prevent glass from melting and sticking to the ceramic rollers.

2.2. When a thick plate larger than 12mm experiences a crushing blast furnace, it can be shaken left and right to scatter glass fragments on the radiating plate below, regardless of whether it is thick or thin. When it is damaged into large pieces, simply shake the glass out by hand as soon as possible. However, if the glass gets stuck between two rollers after the blast furnace, thorough cooling should be taken, and the furnace should be raised to a certain height. Use a long rod to pick out or push the glass down.

2.3. When the glass plate surface exceeds half of the furnace, the furnace should be cooled and the roller conveyor should be cleaned. When the glass plate surface is less than half of the furnace, the large glass slag on the ceramic rollers in the heating furnace should be transferred to the exhaust, and production can continue without cooling down.

2.4. Turn off the knife that controls the electric furnace wire, manually open the furnace door and heat dissipation valve to cool down. When cooling down, make sure to let the ceramic roller rotate, so that the ceramic roller can cool down evenly and is not easily damaged. When the temperature drops to 200 degrees, slowly lift the furnace body up. Do not lift it too early, otherwise the furnace body will deform. When the temperature drops to a point where people can enter, lift the furnace body up and clean it.

The above is a complete introduction to what to do if a glass tempering furnace explodes. In addition to the reasons mentioned above, it may also be caused by rapid heating and uneven heating. Take corresponding measures after frying the furnace to reduce losses.
