The heating temperature and time of the glass tempering furnace have a direct impact on the quality of glass tempering. The heating temperature, heating time, and uniformity of heating can all affect the flatness of glass after tempering. So, what is the heating temperature of a glass tempering furnace? So here we will introduce the principles of setting the heating temperature of a glass tempering furnace and the suitable temperature range for operation.

1. Principles for Setting Heating Temperature of Glass Tempering Furnace

1.1. The thinner the glass, the lower the temperature: The temperature setting of the glass tempering furnace during heating varies depending on the thickness of the glass. The basic principle of heating temperature setting is that the higher the temperature of the glass, the lower the temperature of the glass.

1.2. The furnace temperature should be higher than the glass temperature: The stress of glass refers to the internal force that interacts between the various parts inside the glass when it deforms due to external factors, in order to resist external forces and attempt to restore the glass to its original position before deformation. If residual stress in the glass cannot be completely eliminated, tensile stress can form in the center of the glass during the quenching stage, which can easily cause glass fracture. The stress can only be eliminated when the furnace temperature is higher than the glass temperature.

1.3. The furnace temperature should not be too high: If the furnace temperature is too high, it will cause the glass to deform due to heating. The furnace temperature should be set to be 60-100 ℃ higher than the glass outlet temperature.

1.4. Radiation wavelength controlled at 3.0pm: Glass has selective absorption of infrared radiation, and the infrared wavelength in the heating furnace is within the glass absorption range. According to the absorption spectrum, the upper limit of the radiation wavelength in the furnace should be around 3.0pm, and the furnace temperature should be controlled at around 700 ℃.

1.5. Do not easily adjust the temperature: The temperature of the heating furnace should be set within a reasonable range and should not be easily adjusted. The intensity of blackbody radiation is proportional to the 4th power of its temperature, and even small temperature adjustments can have a significant impact on the glass heating rate. In the production process, if you want to adjust the furnace temperature, you can achieve the goal of adjusting the glass temperature by changing the heating time.

2. Suitable temperature range for glass tempering furnace operation

Under normal circumstances, the temperature of glass at the time of tempering should be between 600-630 degrees Celsius. Therefore, most glass tempering furnaces are set at a heating temperature of 680-720 degrees Celsius. Considering the relationship between stress relief time and temperature, as well as the influence of temperature gradient formation during quenching, the heating temperature of thin glass is generally higher than that of thick glass. The specific temperature and time setting standards should be determined based on the power of the tempering furnace and the specifications of the glass. The furnace with outstanding flatness and other parameters in the finished product should be selected as the temperature and time setting standard. The following table shows the reference data for the suitable temperature of the tempering furnace equipment for different thicknesses of glass production:
