At present, various types of glass, automotive glass, home glass, and architectural glass can be seen everywhere in our lives. No matter where they are used, the most common one we see is tempered glass of flat glass, which is also known as flat steel glass. It is well known that glass tempering furnaces are the main equipment for producing tempered glass. Is the equipment for producing tempered glass the same? What are the types of flat tempered glass tempering furnaces?

1. Vertical glass tempering furnace

Vertical tempering equipment is a processing method that uses clamps to hang glass for heating and water sealing for quenching. The vertical tempering production line mainly consists of a heating furnace and a tempering air grille. After pre-treatment (raw material preparation, processing, washing, drying, and semi-finished product inspection), the glass is fixed with heat-resistant steel clamps and sent into the electric heating furnace for heating. After reaching the set temperature, the glass is moved to the air grille and compressed air is evenly and quickly sprayed on the surface of the glass to cool it quickly. During the cooling process of the glass, there is a temperature difference between the surface and the interior, resulting in compressive stress on the surface and achieving the tempering effect. After quenching, the glass is removed from the air grille by removing ice from the fixture, and after inspection, it is packaged and stored in the warehouse.

The glass products processed by this tempering furnace have obvious clamp marks, and for thicker glass, there may also be glass elongation and warping during tempering heating, which may seriously affect the optical performance of the glass. This type of tempering furnace cannot complete continuous production tasks, and the loading and unloading of sheets require manual operation, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Additionally, the glass specifications should not be too large, otherwise the clamping force may not be sufficient. This furnace type is suitable for processing ultra small and double-sided coated glass.

2. Air cushion glass tempering furnace

An air cushion glass tempering furnace uses gas or gas to suspend glass for tempering treatment. Cold air is introduced into the cutting and quenching sections, and hot gas is introduced into the heating section. Most of the surface of the glass is supported by a gas film formed by densely distributed nozzles, which forms a gas film to support the glass smoothly. The height of the glass suspension is about 0.25mm, and a small portion of the glass is supported by edges on chains or conveyor belts, driving the glass to run in the tempering furnace. This tempered glass method does not come into contact with any solid parts of the equipment, resulting in minimal surface damage and deformation, and no clamp marks. Therefore, the production quality and output are relatively high.

The air cushion tempered cooling equipment has strong cooling capacity, can temper 3mm thin glass, and its strength can reach the stress value of 5mm glass in a vertical tempering furnace. The investment in air cushion tempering furnace equipment is high, and the production scale and shape size are limited to a certain extent, and the operational technical level is required to be high.

3. Horizontal glass tempering furnace

The horizontal glass tempering furnace uses a horizontal roller to transport glass for blowing, heating, and cooling to complete tempering. This equipment has high production efficiency, a wide range of product types, and a wide range of glass types that can be produced. It can temper various types of white, brown, embossed, glazed, coated glass within a thickness range of 3-19mm, and has good product quality, convenient operation, and simple loading and unloading.

However, this type of equipment is limited by the distance between horizontally tempered rollers and contact heating, and cannot produce double-sided coated glass and ultra small glass, with a specification threshold of 100mm x 200mm.

What are the types of flat tempered glass tempering furnaces? According to the above content, it can be seen that flat tempered glass is horizontal tempered glass. According to the operating status of the glass during quenching in the heating section of the tempering furnace, it can be divided into vertical tempering furnace, air cushion tempering furnace, and horizontal tempering furnace. When selecting tempering equipment, you can choose according to specific product production needs, such as processing technology requirements and product dimensions. In addition, our company produces various models of tempering furnace equipment, which are suitable for the production of tempered glass of various specifications.
