1. Scope
This standard clarifys the term, definition, classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, mark, packing, transportage, storage of the tempered glass.
This standard is suitable for the heat strengthened glass which for architecture; for the glass used for other industry (other than architecture), pls refer to this standard according to the product features
2 2. Normalizative quoted document
GB 9962-1999 Laminated glass
GB 11614 Float Glass
GB/T 18144 Test method for glass stress
3 .Term & definition
3.1 Tempered glass
It is the glass after being heating processed. Its features are: there is the Pressure stress layer at the glass surface, its mechanical strength and Heat resisting impact strength will be improved, and it has the special fragment condition.
3.2. Classification
3.2.1 Accordig to its production technology, the tempered glass could be classified as: vertical tempered glass and horizontal tempered glass.
3.2.2 According to its shape, the tempered glass could be classified as: flat tempered glass and curvature tempered glass.
4. Material
The sheet glass used for tempered glass should meet the requirements of corresponding product standard.
5. Requirements
The each performance and test method of tempered glass should comply with the clauses in Sheet 1
Sheet 1: Technical requirements & test methods
Item | Technical requirements | Test method | |
Size and appearance | Size & allowable deviation | 5.1 | 6.1 |

>19 | Accordong to the negotiation between Seller and Buyer |
5.1.3 The Size & allowable deviation for other shape glass, it should be negotiated by the Seller and Buyer.
5.1.4 Edge processing
The shape and quality for the edge processing should be negotiated by the Seller and Buyer.
5.1.5 Round hole
5.1.5.1 Summarize
This clause is only suitable for the product which nominal thickness is not less than 4mm. The edge quality of the hole should be negotiated by seller and buyer.
5.1.5.2 Hole diameter
Normally, the hole diameter should not less than the nominal thickness of glass, and the allowable deviation of hole diameter should comply with the clauses of sheet 4. if the hole diameter less than the nominal thickness, the allowable deviation of hole diameter should be negotiated by seller and buyer.
Sheet 4 Hole diameter and its allowable deviation (Unit: mm)
Nominal hole diameter (D) | Allowable deviation |
4≤D≤50 | ±1.0 |
250<D≤100 | ±2.0 |
D>100 |
5.1.5.3 Hole position
1) The distance a between the edge of hole and edge of glass should not less than twice of the nominal thickness. Pls refer to figure 1
